Restricted Area Permit (RAP) Guide

What is RAP?

The Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is an official document issued by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to authorize entry into restricted areas. Great Nicobar Island is one of the most restricted areas in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Important Note for Tourists

RAP is NOT issued for tourism purposes.

If you are a tourist seeking to visit Great Nicobar Island, you cannot obtain a RAP. This permit is exclusively for government-approved personnel.

Who Can Get RAP?

  • Government Officials: On official duty or administrative work
  • Researchers: Approved research projects with government endorsement
  • Project Workers: Employees of government-approved development projects
  • Military Personnel: Defense and security forces
  • NOT Tourists: Tourism permits are not issued for Great Nicobar

Required Documents (if eligible)

If you are part of an authorized group, you may need to provide:

  • • Valid government ID or passport
  • • Official letter from your organization
  • • Purpose of visit documentation
  • • Project details or research proposal
  • • Medical fitness certificate (in some cases)
